Hi, I’m Shakir
Born in Sri Lanka, living in Stockholm, Sweden. By day I work in IT; the rest of the time I am travelling and photographing the world. More than 25 countries so far, solo, with friends and with my family, including our three kids.
A Sri Lankan travel photographer and family travel blogger
I started The Gallivant Geek to keep a record of the places we explore and the photos I bring home. It grew into a family travel blog with honest guides, realistic itineraries and photography tips, written from Stockholm for people who want to travel well with or without kids.

How I travel
- Solo, for photography: puffins in Runde, leopards in the Masai Mara and sunrise over the Taj Mahal.
- With friends: city breaks and road trips across Europe, usually on a budget.
- With my wife and our three kids: family-friendly itineraries, day trips from Stockholm and longer adventures.
