Looking for a fun and refreshing way to spend a day just outside Stockholm? Strawberry picking at a countryside farm is the perfect choice. Head out to Thorslunda Gård for a self-picking experience where you can fill your baskets with juicy, sun-ripened strawberries – straight from the field.

We’ve been visiting for several years, and it’s always a relaxing and enjoyable outing with the kids. There’s something special about picking your own fruit, feeling connected to nature, and soaking in the fresh countryside air.

When’s the Best Time to Go?

The strawberry season usually kicks off around midsummer and lasts for a few weeks depending on weather and berry availability. Sometimes it even starts a bit earlier. Rhubarb is also available for self-picking during the same period.

Prices (2025):

  • 🍓 Strawberries: 110 SEK/kg
  • 🌿 Rhubarb: 45 SEK/kg

Booking Your Visit

Booking a time slot is recommended, especially if you plan to go in the morning when it’s usually more crowded. This helps avoid parking issues and makes for a smoother visit. Afternoon drop-ins are sometimes available, but it’s always good to check the farm’s website before heading out.

What to Expect at the Farm

You’re welcome to bring your own containers, or you can borrow simple ones on-site. There’s no entrance fee and free parking, which makes the visit easy and low-stress.

Feel free to sample a berry or two, but remember to pick, weigh, and pay before digging in properly. And while you’re welcome to bring your dog, they’ll need to stay out of the actual picking fields.

The farm is partially accessible, with gravel and grass paths – though a few areas might be a bit uneven.

Take a Break at the Farm Café

Once you’ve finished picking, head over to the cozy farm café, where you’ll find:

  • 🧇 Fresh waffles
  • 🍦 Ice cream
  • ☕ Hot and cold drinks

The café also offers gluten- and lactose-free options, so there’s something for everyone. Outside food isn’t allowed, so this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat.

And if you’re visiting with kids, they’ll love the small play area near the café – think toy cars and space to run around while you sip your coffee. There’s even a little pond nearby where you might spot a few birds if you pause and take it in.

More Than Just Strawberries

Depending on the season, the farm also grows:

  • 🫐 Blackberries
  • 🍇 Raspberries
  • 🍅 Tomatoes
  • 🌽 Corn
  • 🎃 Pumpkins (available in autumn)

If you’re planning a visit in the fall, don’t miss their pumpkin display and Halloween setup! While it’s not a self-picking experience, they offer a wide variety of decorative and Halloween pumpkins for sale. The festive atmosphere, complete with seasonal decorations, makes it a fun spot to explore with kids. I’ve shared more about it in this blog post:
